Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah has a bright and very successful career in Bangladesh Civil Service for long 35 years. He joined the public services in 1983. He began his public career as Magistrate, National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA) in October 1983. And in August 2018, he retired as a Senior Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture. He served as the Secretary of this Ministry too. Earlier, he was the Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, Secretary/Secretary In-Charge in the Ministry of Industries.
He served in different regions of Bangladesh in field administration of multiple responsibilities that also includes the post of Divisional Commissioner of Dhaka Division.
From May 2009 to May 2010, he looked after the affairs of the Prime Minister’s Office in the capacity of the Director General. His critical experience as the Joint Secretary in the Cabinet Division earlier helped him in delivering very important public services. He earlier served as the Assistant Private Secretary to Honorable Chief Advisor’s office.
Mr Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah served as the Secretary of the Zila Parishads of Narayangonj, Gazipur and Tangail, through which he gained substantial experience as a public servant who needs to have adequate knowledge at the field level, where the central concern is dealing with the problems of the large disadvantaged populace of the country, and this also teaches one to cope with the challenges of development of the left behind people.
He also served in the Ministries of Environment and Forests; Public Administration; Finance (Economic Relations Division: ERD); Housing and Public Works; Industries.
He was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Karnaphuli Fertilizer Company Limited (KAFCO). He was appointed as the Director to the Board of Directors of British American Tobacco Bangladesh in October 2012.
Mr Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah obtained his Honors and M Sc degrees in Soil Science from the University of Dhaka. Throughout his professional life, he participated in numerous capacity development programs at home and abroad. Among those, he received international training on ‘Planning & Appraisal of Rural Development Project’ in the UK. He traveled to many countries of Asia, Europe, North America, Africa and Australia and took part in many trainings and seminars related to state affairs.
He participated in a significant number of bilateral and multilateral international negotiations and events of high national interest that took place in countries like- USA, Russia, Italy, Hungary, Saudi Arabia, Belarus, Tunisia, Morocco, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Sri Lanka, Denmark, Japan, and Vietnam. Number of times, he travelled as one of the members of entourages of the Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh.
Mr Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah’s working experience extends to administration of educational institutions too. He was a Member of the Syndicate of Jahangirnagar University, Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University and Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (DUET). He was also appointed as the Regent Board Member of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Science & Technology University. He is a member of Dhaka University Soil Science Alumni Association. Throughout his career, he was involved in scouting, sports and various socio-cultural activities.
